AFL England believes in not only growing the sport of Australian football in England but making it as accessible as possible to anyone to get involved in the sport, no matter their age or at what stage of their footballing career they are.
That is why during this off-season, we are going to be shining a light on some of the different areas of the sport in this country. This ‘All Ages, All Stages’ initiative will highlight the talent pathway available to everyone in this country, from their very first kick as a junior, up to the national teams of Great Britain and England and even beyond.
AFL England President Jason Hill says that the All Ages, All Stages initiative will provide more ways to be involved in the amazing sport of Australian football.
“It is extremely important for us to offer routes to access the sport of Australian rules football at all stages of someone’s life so they can experience everything this amazing sport has to offer,” said Hill. “With this in mind, you’ll start to see AFL England put a spotlight on the initiatives, and the people behind them, as we look to showcase how everyone can be a part of our community.
“Our community is an extremely inclusive growing place for everyone, from seasoned veterans of sport right through to first-timers and everything in between. I hope that by showcasing the extraordinary work being led in this country you’ll be able to see where you fit in and how you can get involved!”
With the European Championships rapidly approaching, we will see some of Europe’s elite footballers in action in London aiming to retain the title they won in 2016.
Shortly afterwards, the National University League will get underway with the best young student footballers looking to capitalise on the inaugural season’s immense success.
Throughout all of this, clubs will be ramping up their recruitment and engagement with new players to ensure that their teams are ready for the 2020 season.
We hope that by showcasing some clubs and their efforts to promote the sport, we will help expand the interest in the sport at all levels.
