The fixtures for the 2019 Euro Cup in Norrtälje, Sweden has been confirmed for both the England Dragonslayers and Vixens. The Vixens kick off against France and will also face Switzerland before playing hosts Sweden in their final pool stage match.
Meanwhile the Dragonslayers will be confident of making the group stages after being drawn against the Netherlands, Israel and Poland.
With both teams under new coaches since the tournament was last held in Cork, both teams will be looking for improved performances since 2018.
The England Vixens finished as runners-up to Ireland last year, and will face familiar foes in the pool stages after being drawn against the Swedish Ravens who they defeated 5.4 (34) to 1.2 (8). Rounding out the pool are the French Gauloises and Swiss Heidis.
The Vixens dominated their pool last year, conceding just the one goal across four matches. However, they lost in the final to a dominant Ireland side and the Vixens will be looking for revenge should the two meet later in the tournament.
Meanwhile, the England Dragonslayers face the Netherlands Flying Dutchmen, Israeli Beasts and Polish Devils and will be confident of securing a place in the knockout rounds.
The Dutchmen are emerging as a major European footballing nation after playing 18-a-side matches against Great Britain and the Wandsworth Demons in recent months.
Contrary to last year, where the defending champion Dragonslayers failed to make a live streamed match, they are guaranteed at least one with their match against Poland on Pitch 1 and available to watch on Facebook.
The Vixens meanwhile will also appear on the live stream should they top their group, facing off against the runner-up in the other Pool which consists of reigning champions the Irish Banshees along with the Croatian Queens, German Eagles and Welsh Wyverns.
We want to wish good luck to all of our England footballers heading to Sweden. Fingers crossed for a repeat of their 2017 double-winning success!
